Whiting & Partners

Whiting & Partners are a firm of chartered accountants with its head office in Bury St Edmunds and six additional sites throughout East Anglia. Many of Whiting and Partners’ existing servers were ‘end of life’ and the decision was made to upgrade and migrate to Windows Server 2003 in order to create a more reliable and scalable multi-site solution.

Windows Server 2003 simplifies branch server management, improves identity and access management, reduces storage, management costs, provides a rich web platform, and offers cost-effective server virtualisation.

It is the most productive infrastructure platform for powering connected applications, networks, and web services from the workgroup to the data centre. Easy to deploy, manage and use, Windows Server 2003 helps companies build a secure IT infrastructure. It provides a powerful application platform for quickly building connected solutions, and an information worker infrastructure for enhanced communication and collaboration, anytime and anywhere.

The operating system for the servers was installed at BMS’ offices to help minimise onsite down time. Our engineers then installed the servers at Whiting & Partners HQ and migrated existing programs, applications, data and configurations from the old to the new servers. With the assistance of Whiting & Partners’ staff, this was completed with a minimum of disruption. Because of BMS’ expertise with Windows Server 2003 as well as the product itself being reliable and stable, there were very few teething problems for the new system. Any that did arise were efficiently dealt with by the IT Solutions team.

While Whiting & Partners have their own IT personnel, BMS were also asked to provide technical support for the new servers and their existing server network. BMS’ specialist support team is trained not only to provide technical support, but also help prevent problems. When problems do occur we can provide technical support in the context of keeping the business functioning as effectively as possible until these issues are resolved.
